In celebration of World Environment Day 2015, SIFCare La Union conducted tree planting activities in public schools in the north.
A variety of seedlings were planted such as mulberry, anise/liquorice, curry patta, tamarind, guyabano, atis, langka and calamansi. Around 110 pupils and 5 teachers in Baroro Elementary School participated, 50 high school students and 2 teachers from Sto. Rosario National High School, and 20 pupils from Nadsaag Elementary School.
“Maraming salamat sa SIF sa magandang mga programa ninyo (Thank you to SIF for this wonderful program),” said Gemma Bassig, Principal for Baroro Elementary School.
Bernadette Bermudez, a new SIFCare volunteer, added, “Tayo ang tagapag-alaga ng nature at pasasalamat natin ang activity ngayon sa Diyos at kay Mother Nature (We are the caretakers of nature and today’s activity is our way to thank God and Mother Nature.).”
SIFCare volunteers assisted in the 3 schools and a combined total of 207 students, teachers and volunteers did their share in helping the environment.
