ICC in Cavite by SIFCare
Every third Saturday of September is marked to be an International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICC). This is an international activity participated by concerned citizens of the EARTH.
#SIFCare Silang Volunteers joined this event last Sept.18, through the help and permission of Mayor Juanio C. Dualan of Naic Cavite. The clean-up site is along the coasts of Naic at Brgy Labac which is also a Pawikan Conservation and Protection site. Naic Coastal National High School Principal, Dr. Arceli Petrasanta allowed us to use the school grounds as a venue for the orientation and briefing of volunteers.
At 10am, snacks were distributed with fresh ice-cold lemon grass tea. Other groups that participated are the NDRRMO Municipality of Naic, BJMP, RHU, Brgy. Labac, Naic High School, MENRO, CAVSU, St. Paul College-Dasmarinas, PTA-NCNHS with a total of 325 volunteers.
We ran out of sacks and still there are so much garbage to be collected. This only means that coastal clean-up should be done daily by the residents but most importantly, we should stop polluting and throwing our trash in seas, otherwise it will definitely go back to us.
