More Pawikans Start their Journey Home

It’s the peak of sea turtle hatching season in La Union as hatchlings of the endangered Olive Ridley make their way to the ocean. The coastline of La Union is a breeding ground for these important sea turtles and we are offered a rare glimpse of these amazing creatures.

Our very own Gov. Pacoy and the Mutia ti La Union 2018 candidates were able to witness the journey of these sea travellers. He himself mentioned how this was only the beginning of a long perilous journey for these baby pawikans. Adult sea turtles return to their birthplace to lay their eggs after twenty years and Gov. Pacoy exclaimed that he will still be around when these turtles return to the shores of La Union.
