Gopalakas Food Distribution – September 20, 2024

We had an amazing start to this school year’s Gopalakas Food Distribution, which takes place every 3rd Friday of the month. For this first distribution, volunteers from DOERs, La Union Vibrant Women Incorporated (LUVWI), the Philippine Navy (Cmou Northern Luzon), Philippine Coast Guard (Coast Guard District North Western Luzon), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP San Fernando City), Lions Club and local volunteers came together to serve four elementary schools in Bacnotan.

Here’s a breakdown of the plant-based food distributed:

57 Monggo Burgers for undernourished students
655 Monggo Peanut Butter Sandwiches for other students and teachers
712 Boiled Saba for everyone

Galongen Elementary School
Mabanengbeng Elementary School
Nangalisan Elementary School
Quirino Elementary School

Despite the early morning’s challenging weather, our volunteers made sure the food reached the children and teachers. The day was filled with fun and learning, with Q&A games facilitated by the volunteers and the children singing the Gopalakas song with joy and excitement. The teachers expressed their gratitude, and the children’s smiles made every effort worthwhile.
