SIFCare-Bohol Starts the Year with a Tree Planting Activity

What a novel way of spending Chinese New Year. SIFCare Bohol and the Junior Red Cross ACLC Chapter partnered in a tree-planting activity at Bohol Island State University (BISU) and Oikos Peace Garden in Bilar.

Our host was Mr Jose Travero, recognized as Bohol’s strongest proponent of organic agriculture. Bignay and chestnut trees were planted and we all got to hear Mr Travero expound on the importance of going organic and the reason he set up Oikos as a showcase and training center for organic agriculture. He definitely walks the talk. It being the year of the monkey, we made a short stop to see the macaque monkeys at Bilar’s Magsaysay Park.
