In a proactive step towards enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of emergency responders, SIFCare, through the invitation of MDRRMO-San Juan, took a significant leap by introducing AcuDetox therapy. This holistic approach to disaster trauma recovery has shown promising results, offering stress relief and relaxation to those who tirelessly serve the community during and after disasters.

In a region prone to natural calamities, such as typhoons, the mental toll on first responders cannot be underestimated. The constant exposure to distressing scenes, coupled with the pressure of providing immediate aid, can lead to heightened levels of anxiety, stress, and even sleep disturbances. To address these challenges head-on, MDRRMO San Juan chief Mr. Gino Mabalot invited SIFCare volunteers to offer AcuDetox sessions to their dedicated emergency response personnel.

AcuDetox, short for Acupuncture Detoxification, is a therapeutic method rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the application of small, sterilized needles to specific points on the ear. These points correspond to various areas of the body and mind, enabling the release of tension, promoting relaxation, and facilitating the body’s natural healing mechanisms. It has been successfully used for years to assist individuals in overcoming trauma, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and other related issues.

By prioritizing mental and emotional well-being, our first responders are better equipped to serve their community and face the future with strength and courage.
