SIFCare Gives the Gift of Life
On June 30, 2021 SIFCare turned over a newly dug well with a hand pump to the residents of Purok Singko in Barangay Dasay, San Juan La Union. This is under SIFCare project called HARI or Healthy Aqua Resource Initiative which started in 2013 in the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda. It is a simple effort to deliver an essential need to save lives through the provision of wells and water pumps in public schools and communities.
Ms. Socorro Bismark (CEO), Mr. Ramon Toby Tamayo (Programs Development Head), Ms. Marissa Tamayo (Vice-President) and other SIFCare volunteers were present in the short but memorable event. Mr. Tamayo spoke about the changing climate and how water has become more and more scarce. He asked the recipients to make every drop count. He stressed the need to take care of the water resources, plant more trees, and cooperate in caring for the environment from which we are able to harness our needs.
Barangay Captain Rosalinda Pal-et thanked SIFCare for always being there to help them. She spoke of how lack of water has become a huge problem for them. She underlined how it is necessary for their survival. She said, “Kung wala ito, patay kami …” (“Without this, we would be dead”) stressing how much they needed this added source of water to fulfill their needs. She reiterated that indeed, they will not waste any of the water.
24 families will benefit from this new source of water. Their grateful representatives were overjoyed and promised to save water and keep it clean. They look forward to helping plant more trees to ensure water and food for the future generations.
